Quick Bites: Rules Restaurant

📍 Location: Covent Garden
💸 Bill: ~£140 for 2 (starter + mains+ bottle of wine + service)
🥂 Order: oyster, steak & kidney pie, rump steak, creamed spinach, bottle of Bordeaux, pint of Guinness (served in a pewter mug!)

Vibe: Famously the oldest restaurant in London, but surprisingly hasn’t reduced itself to that as a gimmick. Grand but cosy, Rules oozes old British class. Deep red upholstery and plush carpets make a big glass of red feel inevitable.

Highlight Dish: Steak & Kidney Pie— British classic that keeps the regal vibes coming. Flaky pastry, and comes with a delicious gravy that will have you licking your plate.

Drink: We chose a Bordeaux—rich, smooth, and never a bad choice with traditional British fare.

Service: Waiters are smartly dressed, service is friendly and polite.

Date Factor: Perfect for anniversaries or a special night with someone you know well—this isn’t a casual first date spot.

Verdict: A historic London experience worth splurging on for the atmosphere alone.
